I am a first-generation Latina; my parents were born in Mexico and I was born and raised in California. I have a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a concentration in non-profit. I decided to pursue my career from home for now until my 2 children go to school full-time. My husband has served in the Army since 2012, he started in the reserve and is currently active duty.
We read to our daughter every day and as she grows, we continue to look for more books that interest us. My children inspired me to write books and bring to life something different for them. The reason I chose “En la casa de mis Abuelos” to be my first book was to honor my mother and grandparents for my childhood memories. I also wanted a book that represents a multigenerational household.
I want other Hispanic military families to find a community, not just for the craziness this life brings us, but also for the support to continue to express ourselves culturally. I want to educate our children while passing along traditions all while feeling comfortable no matter where in the world we are.
I plan to continue to write books and always make them bilingual. I want to work with a non-profit organization to teach my children to be there for others and to always remember their roots.
